Road Tests
Medicine Hat Registries is pleased to administer road tests and asks that you please schedule and pay for your test in advance at one of our offices.
What You Should Know
-
Your eligibility to take a road test will be confirmed on the Alberta Motor Vehicles System (MOVES) when your road test permit is generated. This will include producing acceptable identification, appropriate documents based on the requirements of the desired driver’s licence class and/or medical documents.
-
A client must report to the registry agent office where the road test is scheduled.
-
The client must hold a valid Alberta learner’s or driver’s licence.
-
If ineligible on the test date, the test will not proceed.
-
Prior to the road test, you will be required to provide government generated photo identification to confirm that your identity matches the road test permit information.

To take a road test, you must have a safe vehicle in good working order. For your convenience, we’ve included additional information regarding vehicles used in road tests.

-
Road tests must be scheduled in person, with the full road test fee paid at that time. Please note, failure to provide 24 hours of notice, or failure to attend the road test at the scheduled time and location, will result in the fee being forfeited and the test will not proceed.
